WEST MICHIGAN — After a stunning day across West Michigan clouds are on the move and rain is headed our way. Highs on Sunday reached all the way into the upper 60s. One of the warmest temps was recorded in Coldwater with a whopping high of 70 degrees!

As of 4:40 p.m. rain is already in Illinois and is starting to shift over Michigan. Grand Rapids will see rain by 7 p.m. and those showers will continue into early Monday morning. The skies for Monday will stay cloudy until the afternoon when they will clear up in a hurry.

There is a possibility for isolated thunderstorms with this system, especially because of the warm conditions. Whenever there is warmth there is lift and lift helps create thunderstorms. The chance for isolated thunderstorms quickly goes away after midnight when the system has moved over West Michigan. The next rain system will move in late on Wednesday. The system will also have the chance for thunderstorms. What to notice on the second image below is the development of snow showers behind the rain. There is a possibility for a wintry mix on the backside of this system which will move over Michigan on Friday. While the chances for that are slim, we will all see chilly temperatures return by the end of the week.
