Robbery suspect hits employee, flees scene without cash

HOLLAND TWP., Mich. – Two people are in custody after a failed armed robbery attempt Thursday morning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened at about 6:45am at the Wesco at 14 W. Lakewood Boulevard.  According to deputies, the suspect came into the store, implied that he had a weapon and demanded cash.  When a second employee approached him, he hit the employee in the face with his fist and ran.

Deputies found a 17-year-old male matching the description of the suspect walking in the area of Beeline and James Street at about 8:25am with a 17-year-old girl. He was interviewed and subsequently arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery.  The girl, a Zeeland Township resident, was charged with Obstructing in a Major Felony Investigation.
