BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — A Big Rapids man was sentenced Monday for shooting arrows at two Big Rapids police officers.

Wesley Snyder was sentenced to between 12 and 50 years in prison, according to Mecosta County Circuit Court officials.  He pleaded no contest in March to two counts of attempted murder in connection with the Jan. 16, 2015 altercation.

He allegedly shot arrows at the officers and charged at them.  The officers were at his apartment to question him about an earlier assault, according to a release from police issued in January 2015.

Snyder was tased by one of the officers and arrested.   An officer suffered cuts and lacerations to his face, including injuries to his eye and eye socket.

Several other charges, including felony assault and resisting and obstructing police, were dropped as part of a plea deal.
