BENZIE COUNTY, Mich. — One of two eaglets at the Platte River State Fish Hatchery hatched early Tuesday morning, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The eggs were laid March 12 and March 15.  The eagle’s nest is located about 100 feet above the ground along the Platte River near Beulah in Benzie County.

The Michigan DNR said in a release that the other eaglet “hopefully will hatch at any moment.”

A camera is set up so that viewers can watch the nesting eagles live.  A video of the first eaglet hatching Tuesday morning is also available.
