GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Testimony started Tuesday in the murder trial of Roger Musick.

Musick is accused in the December 2013 murder of Steven Day.    Robert McCombs, the man who admitted to helping Musick dump Day's body, was one of the people called to testify Tuesday.

McComb said he spent 14 months behind bars for his actions in helping with the cover-up after pleading guilty to tampering with evidence the night of the murder.   He said he, Musick and Day were at his apartment drinking and talking when Day admitted to molesting his own niece.  McComb says Musick mouthed that he wanted to kill Day.

McComb claims to have blacked out and woke up to find Day lifeless in a chokehold.   The defense believes McComb played a larger role in the actual murder and isn't buying his version of events.   They tried to poke holes in his story during cross examination.

It's not clear if Musick will testify, but the prosecution says it doesn't anticipate it.
