GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three teens are suspected for allegedly breaking into two Ottawa County church in recent days.

The teens are a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl from Georgetown.  The third teen is just identified as being 13 years old.

The break-ins happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 17.  They happened at Georgetown Protestant Reformed Church on 48th Avenue and Jamestown Christian Reformed Church on Riley Street.  Investigators say that the teens lived near the Georgetown church.

The teens allegedly pried open the front doors to get inside, according to investigators. Once inside, they gathered bibles and other books throughout the church and then threw them throughout the foyer area of the building.  Some of the bibles were even burned, according to a church leader.

Police said the suspects then entered the main area of the church, where they sprayed fire extinguishers in the pews.

The teens are currently in the custody of their parents and have been cooperating with investigators.  The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office will turn the case over to the prosecutor’s office for possible charges when the investigation is complete.
