WHITEHALL, Mich. — An outpouring from the community helped reunite a Whitehall family with their missing pooch after being lost for nearly a week.

Dexter the Shih Tzu returned home to Laura Weberg and Greg Chase early Monday evening. A private investigation business – Bad Boys Bail Bonds of Muskegon – offered their services for free and found Dexter after receiving a tip earlier in the day.

Dexter was found safe with the family that took him from the Pound Buddies parking lot last Tuesday.

Weberg says that the community was instrumental in finding Dexter. Since FOX 17 aired the story last week, Weberg says they received tips around the clock.

“All those different stories that we were able to get out there, and everybody that was willing to share really spread it,” Weberg said. “We even got photos of dogs from other states! It was astonishing how fast it spread and how many people were willing to help us out.”

As a way of paying forward all the help the community gave to them, Weberg said her family is talking with the family that had Dexter and working with them to help them find a dog of their own.

Dexter was found recently bathed.
