Benton Harbor man found guilty in series of sex assaults

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — A Benton Harbor man was convicted on several charges connected to a series of sexual assaults committed in the summer of 2015.

In a release issued by the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office, Marcus Stewart, 42, was found guilty by a jury on all charges he was facing which includes:

  • Three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct
  • Two counts of assault by strangulation
  • First degree home invasion
  • Attempted assault by strangulation
  • Interfering with a telecommunications device

Due to the nature of his previous record, Stewart faces a minimum sentence of 25 years when sentenced in June.

Stewart was involved in three separate sexual assaults in Benton Harbor.

The jury deliberated for a little longer than an hour before returning its verdict.
