SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. —  A 5-year-old girl remains hospitalized after a Friday rollover crash in Sparta Township.

The crash happened at about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of 13 Mile Road and Peach Ridge Avenue.     The Kent County Sheriff’s Department says 20-year-old Bailey James Scheib was driving southbound on Peach Ridge and failed to stop for the stop sign at 13 Mile.

Scheib’s Hummer struck a 2005 Ford Taurus, driven by 25-year-old Sparta resident Cassandra Michelle Kuznicki.   Both vehicles were overturned during the crash.

Kuznicki and her 51-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries.    Kuznicki’s two young children, a 5-year-old girl and a 17-month-old boy, were also in the vehicle.

The girl was critically injured and remains hospitalized, according to the sheriff’s department.   The boy was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
