  1. Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, Governor Rick Snyder is declaring a State of Energy Emergency following issues with two gas suppliers.

It turns out a pipeline was shutdown in Wisconsin and now there's been an unplanned outage of the Marathon Refinery in Detroit.

Governor Snyder sent out a tweet Tuesday clarifying that Michigan doesn't have an issue with fuel supply. The order is meant to give truck drivers more time to transport the fuel.

According to Gas Buddy this shouldn't have an impact on prices, it's just the same old story of supply and demand.

2. If you're looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend, Michigan's Adventure is opening for the season.

The amusement park and Funland Farm open May 27 and the Wild Water Adventure opens May 28.

This will be the 60th year for an amusement park being at that site.

If you're an active or retired U.S. military personnel, Michigan’s Adventure will offer you free admission on Memorial Day, May 30 and 31.

3. Kids from across the country will test their spelling mettle as the oral rounds of the Scripps National Spelling Bee start today just outside of Washington D.C.

Now in its 89th year, the bee takes the contestants to the far corners of the English language.

This year's contestants can expect a more difficult word list as the past two years' contests have ended in ties.

The bee will be televised live on ESPN3.

Looking for a local to root for? 13-year-old Aiden Mischley, an 8th grader from Northern Hills Middle School, is one of the contestants.

The champion, or champions, will be determined on the finals on Thursday.

4. A non-profit organization called First Day Shoe Fund is holding a Brews and Shoes fundraiser at Arcadia Ales in Kalamazoo tonight.

The organization works with kids in the Kalamazoo, Comstock, and Woods Edge Schools, who qualify for free or reduced lunch, and provides them with new shoes.

Admission is $10 or a new pair of athletic shoes. The organization prefers youth shoe sizes 11 through adult size 10.

You'll get a drink ticket and light appetizers. The fundraiser goes from 5-7pm.

5. Today is National Wine Day, an unofficial holiday that celebrates Vino!

According to a survey by the Wine Market Council, millennials consumed 42 percent of all the wine sold in the U.S. last year, surpassing Baby Boomers and Generation X.

Today some wineries, wine bars and local wine shops are offering discounts on their wines to celebrate National Wine Day.

So if you're a wine enthusiast or looking to give the gift of wine, give your local wine shop or winery a call and see what they're offering.
