LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and his wife saw their income rise significantly last year to nearly $454,000.

Schuette on Friday released a few pages from his federal tax return for 2015. His income increased 51 percent when compared to 2014.

For more than 30 years, Schuette has mostly worked as an elected or appointed public official. More than 70 percent of his income in 2015 came from capital gains and dividends from investments and $42,400 in pensions or annuities.

The Schuettes say they paid $101,000 in federal, state and Lansing income taxes. An independent trustee manages the couple’s assets to avoid any conflict with Schuette’s job as attorney general.

Bill and Cynthia Schuette reported $48,000 in gifts to charities.
