GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The man police say shot and killed himself outside Spectrum Butterworth Hospital has been identified.

On Saturday, officials with the Grand Rapids Police Department confirmed Corbin Armock, 26, of Wyoming, took his own life earlier this week outside of the hospital.

It happened just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday outside the emergency room entrance on Barclay Avenue near Crescent Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids. Witnesses told police they saw the man shoot himself with a handgun.

Police said Armock was treated for his injuries, but later died. He left behind a suicide note indicating that he had a “parting gift” for police, and a backpack was also found near Armock, but it contained nothing harmful.

The incident remains under investigation.
