GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Another show of support for the cycling tragedy that happened in Kalamazoo Tuesday.  Bicycle enthusiasts in Grand Rapids holding a ‘Solidarity Ride’.

The special tribute put on by the ‘Wednesday Evening Rides’. They are a cycling club that does what it’s name says. They meet every Wednesday night and go for a ride in Grand Rapids.

At Wednesday’s ride, they paid respects and held a moment of silence for the cyclists killed and injured in Kalamazoo.

“It’s a ride of solidarity. And the whole concept of tonight’s ride is to keep people who perished, the people who were injured and their families and loved ones in mind as you ride,” said Ray Brown, a host for Wednesday Evening Rides.

Cyclists know of the potential dangers on the road, but many at the solidarity ride, are frightened, saddened, and angered by what happened in Kalamazoo.

“To think that you’re not safe in numbers it’s unfortunate,” Says Todd Masker, from Spoke Folks Bike Shop. “But I don’t think it’s going to stop anybody from riding their bike. I think it’s going to make us a little more cautious.”

The Wednesday Evening Rides want to encourage people to come out and have fun cycling. Despite the horrific tragedy that happened in Kalamazoo, many cyclists FOX 17 News spoke with said they will continue to ride and will continue to ride safely.
