CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A Niles man was injured after his car rolled over when he attempted to avoid a deer Sunday morning.

According to Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr., at 7:30 a.m. Sunday deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries on M-60 just east of Hoyt Street in Howard Township. The investigation showed that David Woodrow Pflug, 36, of Niles had been driving a vehicle on M-60 when he attempted to avoid a deer and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn when he left the paved roadway.

Pflug was transported to Lakeland Niles for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and his vehicle’s airbags deployed.

The Howard Township Fire Department and Smcas Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
