HOLLAND, Mich. — A 49-year-old man has been sentenced to federal prison after being found guilty of identity theft.

According to court documents, Tracy Rudisel was sentenced on Monday to 39 months in federal prison and ordered to pay over $1,400 in restitution.

Rudisel pleaded guilty in February to identity theft after stealing mail from at least 50 people in Holland. The thefts were carried out between December 2013 and February 2014.

Police found stolen letters in his backpack when Rudisel was arrested for stealing cash from a tip jar at a coffee shop.
