FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A group of Flint-area doctors is recommending that pregnant women and children under 6 stick to bottled water until more tap water tests are performed.

The recommendation conflicts with advice from the federal government, which says filtered tap water is OK for everyone in Flint, months after the city switched water sources due to lead contamination.

Dr. Pino Colone of the Genesee County Medical Society says the group wants to see more test results, especially after a highly publicized flushing program in May. He says it’s possible that lead sediment could cause a spike in lead levels.

Colone, an emergency room doctor, tells The Flint Journal that the medical group isn’t trying to pick a fight with the Environmental Protection Agency.
