SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The wife of a motorcycle rider who died in a crash Tuesday night appeared to lose consciousness just before the crash, says the Kent County Sheriff’s Department. The wife was riding on the motorcycle with her husband at the time.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dale Gene Anderson, 63, of Cedar Springs, was riding on 18 Mile Road near Simmons Avenue northeast of Cedar Springs with his wife when Elaine Rae Anderson, 63, noticed her husband appear to become unresponsive and fall forward, said KCSD. While Elaine Anderson tried to keep control of the motorcycle, the pair crashed into a ditch.

Passersby administered CPR to Anderson, and first responders took over when they arrived, but Anderson died at the scene. Elaine Anderson was unhurt.

While the accident remains under investigation, KCSD does not believe speed nor alcohol were factors.
