WEST MICHIGAN — A cold front has cleared the area this morning, but skies won’t immediately become mostly sunny. With low pressure lingering to our east, clouds will be slow to leave the area and an isolated shower is possible.
Here is a look at the latest surface map (as of this writing):
In addition, cooler and drier air upon northwesterly winds will continue to flow into the area. This will keep temperatures from jumping into the upper 80s and lower 90s the way they have the last few days, and it will also produce some big waves on Lake Michigan. In fact, all of West Michigan’s nearshore waters are under a Small Craft Advisory for today:
The turbulent waters will make today a dangerous day to attempt swimming or any type of water-related activity, and rip currents are possible. So the recommendation for today: stay out of the water. Tomorrow looks like a much more tranquil day to enjoy the lakeshore with lighter winds and warmer temperatures.
