For years spelling bees have been missing one important letter, "R." Add that one letter and a typical spelling bee is transformed into the Spelling Beer, a fun night out for fans of craft beer looking to raise money for a good cause.
The 2nd AnnualSpelling Beer is happening Thursday, July 21 from 6-10 p.m. at the B.O.B.
There will be a Brewers Only Competition featuring "beer geeky" words to spell, with cash prizes for first and second place. The entry fee is $5.
Doors open at 5 p.m., the competition starts at 6 p.m. Only people 21 or older can attend.
All money raised will benefit the Grand Rapids Public Library Summer Reading Program.
