MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — A driver was injured when a mechanical issue led to a vehicle flipping over twice Saturday morning on U.S. 131.

At 10:22 a.m. Saturday, the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover on northbound U.S. 131 near Eight Mile Road. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found that a 27-year-old woman from Grand Rapids who had been driving the vehicle had been injured.

She was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation showed that the woman had been driving northbound on 131 when her vehicle experienced a mechanical issue and she lost control of the steering. The vehicle then flipped over twice before coming to rest on its side in the middle of the highway.

Deputies said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Mecosta-Austin Fire and Rescue assisted the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
