WEST MICHIGAN- We’ve already seen 12 days of 90 degree temperatures or greater at the airport in Grand Rapids this year, and we’re planning on adding to that tally very easily this week, with some of our hottest temperatures of the year.
The core of the hot air is building to our west under a strong high pressure center. It looks to be the strongest for us on Friday as we’ll see some of the hottest readings on the mercury this year.
Heat advisories and excessive heat watches have been posted as many areas to our west are looking at temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in many locales.
It won’t quite get that hot for us, but temperatures in the middle 90s are not out of the question toward the end of the week.
Records in the upper 90s for Friday are unlikely to be broken, but it will certainly be close as we see isolated rain chances over the next few days with not much of a break in the heat.
