Grand Rapids ranked as 5th in nation for being ‘hip’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids is officially hip.

Infogroup, a company that deals in business data and marketing, used their information to determine the top 10 U.S. metro areas in regards to “hipness.”  Grand Rapids comes in 5th, of metro areas with over one million residents.

The data used was the number of “hipster” types of businesses in the metro area: microbreweries, records/tapes/CD (retail), music dealers, coffee shops (non-chains only), beer & ale (retail), thrift shops, bicycle dealers, tattoo parlors, and music and live entertainment.
