GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The on-demand transportation service Lyft is launching in Grand Rapids on Thursday.

Lyft was founded in June 2012 to “reconnect people and communities through better transportation.”

To celebrate the launch in Grand Rapids, new passengers can use the code BEERCITY and receive $5 off their first ride.

Lyft will also provide service to and from Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

The service will officially become available at noon on Thursday.

Riders will not notice much of a difference between Uber and Lyft, FOX 17 reporter Tracy Hinson took a ride with both rideshare services and says, “The apps look identical, the only difference is that Lyft lets you tip the driver through the app and Uber does not.”
