BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Binder Park Zoo is welcoming back snakes, snapping turtles and toads for their Reptile Weekend event.

More than 100 reptiles and amphibians from around the world will be featured on August 6 and August 7th.

Reptiles and amphibians are often portrayed as creepy, dangerous and aggressive creatures but contrary to what many people believe, reptiles and amphibians play a vital role in our environment and are often shy and reclusive, according to a press release issued from Zoo officials on Monday. The statement went on to say the event will feature several large snake species such as Burmese and reticulated pythons, alligator snapping turtles, monitor lizards, frogs and hands-on encounters with Al, the Zoo’s Aldabra giant tortoise.

You can bring the whole family out on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
