WHITE PIGEON, Mich. — A semi hauling pig remains in White Pigeon Monday afternoon spilled some of its cargo along the highway.
Police in White Pigeon say a semi heading eastbound down US-12 toward Colon when the driver attempted to stop at a red light at Kalamazoo St. That’s when the load shifted, causing 20 piglets and excess remains to spill onto the highway.
Two lanes were covered with the dead pigs, forcing a temporary shut down for cleaning. The White Pigeon fire department assisted police with the cleanup.
Police say incidents like this are infrequent, but have happened before near White Pigeon.
