LUDINGTON, Mich. -- A West Michigan photographer says someone stole thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment from him. However, it's the images on the digital cards that hold the most value to him.
Jason Miney says the equipment is worth upwards of $15,000. Some of the photos on the memory cards were of his brother Brad's last moments alive as he spent time with family and friends. Brad Miney died from cancer nearly two weeks ago.
Jason believes the camera equipment was taken from his truck, which was parked outside his business in downtown Ludington.
He simply wants whoever stole the equipment and those cherished memories to return it all, no questions asked. If not, he's hoping a surveillance camera from the business next door leads police to an arrest.
"My brother had a month to live, and I wasn't going to leave his side to come back to Ludington to download these images onto another server," Miney said. "These are images you can't recreate and will never get back."
Miney says he's offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the return of his equipment and pictures. He said he's not looking to press charges.
The equipment was in a blue and black Tamarack backpack. It contained several expensive lenses, lights and camera bodies.
Miney said he's in contact with the Mason County Sheriff's Department and the Ludington Police Department.
