GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Baby Ruby Bunker is living with some of the rarest life-threatening illnesses in the world. In and out of the hospital since birth, her parents are in a race to raise money in an effort to preserve her way of life.

Born deaf and blind, ‘Baby Ruby’ was born 6 weeks early with multiple holes in her heart. She also has a deteriorating brain, chronic lung disease and glaucoma. Ruby’s mom, Margaret said because of the multitude of ailments, baby Ruby has 13 specialists caring for her; many of whom said she wouldn’t survive long.

“She wasn't expected to live a day and she just turned one-year-old on July,20th,” Bunker’s mother said. “She’s definitely inspired us. She has just fought so hard and we have so many professionals telling us she was going to die. We chose not to believe them and we handed it over to God.”

Today, baby Ruby is breathing on her own, getting ready to go home with mom and dad. Her parents sold everything to pay the medical bills, they even sold their family business which has left them looking for a place to call home.

“We are currently prepared to live in a camper,” said Bunker’s mother. “We don’t want her to suffer and we want her to live and experience life outside the hospital.”

With the help of Child Protective Services, Baby Ruby and her family will be living on a camp ground in Cedar Springs after she’s discharged sometime next week.

Her parents say they’re raising money for their ‘miracle baby’ through a Gofundme page, Help Baby Ruby Pearl Stay Alive. You can even follow Ruby's road to recovery on her Facebook page, Prayers for baby Ruby. She’s expected to be discharged from Devos Children’s Hospital sometime next week.
