SPRING LAKE, Mich. – A common scam phone call is going around Ottawa County again this week.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a call where the suspect tells the resident they owe money to the IRS and that if they don’t pay, the Spring Lake Police will come and arrest them.  The phone number shows as being from the Spring Lake branch of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents in Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg received the calls Monday.  Many other West Michigan residents have reported to FOX 17 receiving the calls as well.

Police confirm that the calls are fraudulent.  If you receive a call, you should report it to the IRS at this link.
