MUSKEGON, Mich.– A West Michigan business owner is hoping to bring more attention to a Muskegon park with the development of a new disc golf course.

Don Jensen, who also owns Sweet Spot Disc Golf, created the idea of “Boom Park,” a ten-hole course for players of all skill sets at Richards Park in Muskegon.

The new park will be named after the Muskegon Log Booming Co. formed locally in 1884. The courses will feature hazards, water and other challenges for disc golfers.

Each hole has a local business sponsor and all materials were donated by lumber companies. The course is being built on $4,000-$5,000, none of which are city funds.

Jensen hopes that the new course will bring more people to Richards Park. He believes it isn’t used enough because of it’s close proximity to the B.C. Cobb power plant.

Boom Park is set to be completed by the end of August.
