EF-0 tornado confirmed east of Douglas

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — The National Weather Service has looked at damage in Allegan County and confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down Friday.

The tornado touched down at about 2:10 p.m. along Riverside Road east of Douglas.

An EF-0 tornado is one with wind speeds of 65 to 85 mph.

The twister and storms heavily damaged a pole barn and sent a tree through the roof of a home.

No injuries have been reported.

The storms also brought heavy rain, with Grand Rapids receiving nearly two inches of rain in one hour.

Several thousand homes and business remain without power as of Saturday morning across western and southwestern Michigan. Flood warnings also remain in effect for several counties in the region.

Storms also left thousands without power in the Detroit area.
