PORTAGE, Mich.— Police arrested a man they say was drunk driving on a suspended license. They were able to make the arrest after that driver ran into a telephone pole.
It happened Saturday morning just after 3:00 near the intersection of S. Sprinkle Rd. and Winthrop Ave.
When officers got there, they found a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu veered off the road into the pole and snapped it. That caused power to be lost in the Meredith St. neighborhood.
The 22-year-old driver was the only one in the car. He wasn’t hurt in the crash.
He was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail for operating while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. The county prosecutor will review the case.
