WEST MICHIGAN-  Many areas in West Michigan saw record rainfall Friday into Saturday morning.  After a dry spell, this was a welcome sight for many.  Unfortunately, now we’re talking about “too much of a good thing” as heavy rain is expected yet again.

A storm system that has a history of dumping over 20 inches of rain in the Southeast is bringing its tropical moisture and heavy rain to West Michigan.

Much of your Monday will be dry, however, rain increases slowly this afternoon and by this evening, looks to spread into the area.  This will be a very soaking rain that doesn’t let up until early morning Tuesday.

A Flash Flood Watch and a Flood Watch go into effect at 5 P.M. Monday and carry until Tuesday late morning.  Heavy rain is expected to fall on top of already soaked West Michigan locations.

Garry Rainfall Totals (1)

Through Tuesday alone, many areas are in the deep red of 2 inches of greater.  It’s very likely we’ll see most areas over an inch of rain and a lot of localized totals of 3 inches with some localized totals over 4 inches!  Prepare for smaller rivers and streams to rise, and make sure that you don’t try to take your vehicle through high water.
