GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Police are looking for help in finding a suspect in a brutal domestic violence incident.

Grand Rapids Police say that Julio Lara, 24, is wanted for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife on August 11 in the 400 block of Graham Street SW.  The victim suffered stab wounds and other serious injuries.  She is recovering.

Police found an empty gun case at the scene.  The Kent County prosecutor has authorized a felony warrant for Lara for assault with intent to murder and unlawful driving away of an automobile.

Lara is described as a Hispanic man, about 5’7″ tall, weighing about 250 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  He has tattoos on his neck and arms.  He was last seen driving a blue 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with Michigan license plate of 5FMD44.

Police say that Lara is not a U.S. citizen.  They say he was deported in 2014 for allegedly committing a serious assault, but the case was dropped.

Police say that Lara may have a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

You are advised to not approach Lara is you see him, but to call 911 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
