NOVI, Mich. (AP) — A suburban Detroit shopping center has been evacuated following a smash-and-grab robbery.

Customers and employees at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi were told to leave the indoor shopping center Saturday afternoon.

Novi police say they are investigating a holdup from one of the stores in the mall and are securing the building, which is northwest of Detroit.

Police say it is not immediately known if anyone was hurt or if shots were fired.

The Detroit Free Press reports that a jewelry store display case was shattered. The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports that the mall was placed on lockdown about 6 p.m. Saturday.

The mall is home to popular shops such as Helzberg Diamonds, Coach, Macy’s and Nordstrom.
