BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 55-year-old farmer was not injured Thursday after someone fired a gunshot at him.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the man was at his farm in the 8000 block of 72nd Avenue tending to livestock early Thursday morning when he saw the suspect on his property.

Officials say the man yelled at the suspect, who fled toward a waiting SUV  that was parked along the road.  The suspect fired a gunshot at the victim.  The bullet hit a vehicle parked in the farmer’s yard.

The SUV was white, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban, according to the sheriff’s department.

The suspect was described by police as a man about 6 feet tall with dark hair.  He was wearing a plaid button-up shirt with light-colored shorts and tennis shoes.

The sheriff’s department says they have received reports of other larcenies in the area.
