HOLLAND, Mich. - A construction worker has been critically injured after a fall Thursday morning at Perrigo.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's office says that the man, Garrit Blok, 50 from Ada, fell about 22 feet from a ladder into an elevator shaft that was under construction.  They say he suffered a critical head injury and possibly other broken bones.  He was taken to the hospital and then flown to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids for treatment.  He remains in critical condition.

Blok works for Dan Vos Construction and crews say he has worked there for about 30 years. Investigators say that Blok was tied off and secured with a harness, but when he completed his work and removed the harness, he fell.

The incident happened about 8:00am at the Perrigo facility in Holland on Reflections Drive.
