WEST MICHIGAN — After a day of heavy rain and thunderstorms across most of the FOX 17 viewing area, drier weather is expected today. A cold front is making its way through the area this morning, with increasing afternoon sunshine expected behind it. Here is a look at where that cold front is as of this early morning writing:

Along this front, a stray shower is still possible this morning south of I-96. Future Track HD picks up on one of these isolated showers just before 8 AM, although that slight chance of rain will actually last until about 10 AM:

Later this afternoon, the drier air behind that cold front will take control. Mostly sunny skies are expected by then, with seasonably warm temperatures in the middle 80s.

Tonight we’ll be watching for some patchy fog. There is a lot of moisture at ground level due to the recent heavy rains, so fog will likely develop as temperatures continue to fall to the dewpoint tonight.

A cold front may kick off a shower on Tuesday evening, otherwise the next seven days look dry. A big cool-down will follow that front on Tuesday night with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s for the rest of the week.
