GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan Blood is hoping you'll think of them this holiday weekend, and donate blood for local first responders.

The 'Honor a Hero' blood drive is going on now at all Michigan Blood locations and runs through Monday.

It's meant to give back to people who put their lives on the line every day, and also coincides with the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Everyone who attempts to donate this weekend will get a $10 gift card to Meijer.

Walk-ins are accepted, but they recommend making an appointment. You can do that at by visiting Michigan Blood's website.

Locations include St. Joseph, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Grandville and Saginaw.
