Pedestrian hit by vehicle, killed while crossing US-31


MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing US-31 on Friday evening.

The man was hit by a vehicle on US-31 north of Apple Avenue at 9:36 p.m. Friday, according to the Muskegon Police Department.

According to Police Chief Jeff Lewis, the man was wearing dark clothing while crossing the highway when he was hit and killed by a northbound vehicle.

The victim will not be identified until after relatives are notified.

The vehicle’s driver was not hurt.

    Boy, thank God and G0d the driver wasn’t hurt! I can’t imagine how a driver of a two ton death mobile enclosed by steel would be injured when he or she hits a pedestrian. Thank you, Muskegon police and Fox 17, for ensuring us that the driver was not hurt in this incident and reminding us that driver lives matter much much more than pedestrians.
