HOLLAND, Mich. — The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office announced Saturday afternoon that it had suspended the water search as part of the recovery effort for a teenager presumed drowned.

Christopher Mimis, 17, and Vincent Green, 14, were last seen Wednesday in the area of the North Pier at Holland State Park. Two other boys who were swimming with Mimis and Green were able to get out of the water.

The four were swimming inside the swim zone, but Mimis and Green are believed to have been swept out by a rip current to the right of the pier.

Green's body was found Thursday afternoon.

FOX 17 News spoke with a friend of Chris Mimis who said she’ll never forget how he always had a smile on his face.

“Chris was so eager to help, he had an eagle heart and he was so silly and so goofy and playful," Arteonna Harris said. "If I bumped into him he would always say something to make me laugh."

She says there are so many things she will miss about him, and will always remember his strength.

“Chris taught me that no matter where life takes you, that there’s still happiness in this world,” Harris said. “That you can still find happiness and light, things may get rough but don’t give up. Never give up.”

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, it will continue to search the shore in the area for Mimis.
