Western Michigan beats Northwestern, 22-21

EVANSTON, Ill — Jamauri Bogan scored from a yard out on 4th and goal with 5:38 in the to play in the 4th quarter as Western Michigan held on to beat Northwestern, 22-21 Saturday afternoon.

Wildcat quarterback Clayton Thorson fumbled the ball into the end zone with three minutes to play, Western’s Davontae Ginwright grabbed the fumble and threw it back into the end zone while falling out of bounds, it was recovered by Northwestern but officials ruled Ginwright was out of bounds before throwing it back in and WMU was able to run out the clock.

Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell competed 326 of 36 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown.

It was the first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2008 for the Broncos.
