HOLLAND, Mich. – A section of US-31 in Holland was closed in both directions after a chain reaction crash that saw a vehicle burst in flames.

Ottawa County deputies say around 2:45 p.m., Barbuhelga Coleman, 37, drove through a red light at US-31 and 8th Street when she was struck by crossing Jeep. Coleman’s sedan rolled into the intersection and crashed into another vehicle sitting at a red light in the southbound lane, which in turn slid into the car behind it.

Coleman was removed from her car before it burst into flames. She was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. None of the other drivers were injured.

Coleman was given a ticket for running a red light.

US-31 was re-opened before 4 p.m.
