1. We are just two months away from the presidential election. With such a controversial election cycle this time around, city and county clerks in West Michigan are expecting a big turnout, and they’re looking for some help.
Grand Rapids needs about 750 people to volunteer to help out with voting this year. If you’re interested in helping out, you must be at least 16 years old.
If you`re over the age of 18, you have to be registered to vote in Michigan. Paid training sessions start at the end of this month.
2. If you're in the market for a new job, Aldi is holding a hiring event today for a new store.
The store is set to open in Hastings. They're looking to hire store associates who would make $11.50 an hour, and shift managers who would make the same amount plus a $4.75 premium.
Today's hiring event will be at the Holiday Inn Express on M43 in Hastings and goes until 6 p.m.
3. Apple is expected to unveil its newest iPhone today, but there might not be that much hype surrounding it.
Apple hasn't released any details on the new phones, but reports say that it likely won't have any groundbreaking new features.
The Wall Street Journal says Apple is planning on more radical changes for next year's models for the iPhone's tenth anniversary.
New watches and Macs will also be featured.
4. Stevie Nicks is hitting the stage in West Michigan this fall.
The music legend announced a new tour, and she's coming to Grand Rapids.
Nicks is bringing her 24 Karat Gold Tour with The Pretenders to Van Andel Arena on November 23.
Presale tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this morning, and they'll be open to the general public on Monday, September 12.
They range in price from $49 to $150.
The Grammy winner most recently finished a 122 show tour with Fleetwood Mac from 2014 to 2015.
5. A young giraffe is making her big zoo debut in Tennessee today.
One-year-old Francis met the media for the first time at the Knoxville Zoo.
Today she will be introduced to the public. Francis was brought to Knoxville from St. Paul, Minnesota.
Crews brought her in a specially made trailer, which is about 14 feet tall.
Zoo officials say she's making an easy transition to her new home and herd.
