LAKE MICHIGAN — Anyone looking forward to spending the weekend on a Lake Michigan beach might want to make inland plans.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Beach Hazards statement for Saturday morning through early Sunday.

Winds will be blowing from the west and northwest Saturday from 15-25 knots, with gusts up to 30 knots at times.  Waves will build to four to seven feet high and cause strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions.  A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect for Saturday from 10:00am until 8:00am Sunday.

Most Lake Michigan beaches will be impacted, especially those with northern exposures such as North Beach in South Haven, Holland State Park, Muskegon State Park, Mears State Park in Pentwater and Stearns Park in Ludington.
