GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two sets of lane closures are guaranteed to cause delays over the weekend, one on US-131 and the other on I-96 in Ionia County.
US-131 in Grand Rapids
- Double lane closure on southbound US-131 from Wealthy Street to 28th Street.
- Friday 10 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m. (9/9-9/12)
- Ramp closed from southbound US-131 to westbound Burton Street
- Friday 10 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m. (9/9-9/12)
- Use 28th Street as detour.
I-196 in Grand Rapids
- Ramp closed from westbound I-196 to southbound US-131.
- Friday 10 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m. (9/9-9/12)
- Exit at Lane Avenue, return to eastbound I-196 to southbound US-131.
54th Street Bridge over US-131
- The bridge will be closed again over the weekend.
- Friday 9 p.m. to no later than Monday 7 a.m. (9/9-9/12)
- The loop ramps will also be closed.
- Exit ramps from US-131 open.
- Or use 44th Street interchange.
I-96 in Ionia County
- Lane closure on westbound I-96 from M-66 exit 67 to a place across from the Saranac rest area at mile 63.
- Expect long delays during daylight hours.
Detour: Exit at Portland Road exit 73, take Grand River Avenue west to enter I-96 at Nash Highway.

US-131 in north Kent County
- Lane closures on northbound and southbound US-131 between 17 Mile and the Montcalm County line.
- Through October 18.
US-31 in Holland
- The major project between 8th Street and Quincy Street continues.
- Quincy Street closed at US-31 for intersection work.
Alger Street in Grand Rapids
- Alger Street closed west of Plymouth Avenue.
- Bridge repair over the CSX railroad tracks.
- Until November 30.
10 Mile in Sparta
- 10 Mile closed between M-37 and Alpine Avenue.
- Through September 30.
Diamond Avenue in Grand Rapids
- Northbound Diamond Avenue closed for repaving between Michigan Street and Leonard Street.
- Southbound Diamond Avenue open.
16th Street in Holland
- 16th Street closed west of US-31 for work on the railroad crossing.
- Sept 7 – 14.
- Use 8th Street.
