GRPD investigates two afternoon armed robberies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Police were busy with two armed robberies in Grand Rapids Tuesday afternoon.

Both happened about 12:15pm.  The first was at the Family Dollar in the 1400 block of Grandville Avenue SW. Witnesses told police that the suspect had a gun during the robbery and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.  Police say that a person is in custody in relation to this incident.

The second happened minutes later in the 1200 block of Alpine NW. Police were flagged down by the victim who told them that two men had robbed him and then ran into a nearby residence.  Police went to the residence and a man and a woman met them and the situation did not agree with the victim’s account.  No charges have been filed at this time.
