Surveillance video leads to grocery store larceny suspect

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich – Investigators with the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office have announced an arrest following a business break-in late last month.

Shane Allen Hunt, 23, is being held at the Mecosta County Jail on multiple charges including breaking and entering of a building, safe breaking and larceny in a building.

Hunt was identified following the public distribution of surveillance video from the Hometown Riverside Grocery store in Barryton.  It was August 29 when a suspect was recorded breaking into the business and stealing a variety of merchandise.  The suspect also attempted to break into an ATM machine in the store but failed.

Hunt was arraigned today on the charges he’s facing and is now being held on $500,000 bond.
