Morning Buzz: 5 things to know for September 14

1. A new concert venue is coming to Grand Rapids.

The Gilmore Collection and Live Nation announced the new venue will be right outside of The B.O.B.

It's call 20 Monroe Live and will sit directly across sthe street from the Van Andel Arena.

At full capacity, it will be able to hold just over 2,500 people. It can be used for private events, meetings, charity functions, and festivals.

The venue is expected to open early next year, with concerts being announced later this Fall.

2. Some of this year's ArtPrize venues will be unveiling their exhibits early today.

For the first ever Preview Week, some of the venues taking part include the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, and Kendall College.

The museums will charge regular admission during preview week, but there will be special perks for artists, sponsors, and volunteers.

3. The Grand Rapids Public Library will waive your long-held library fines, but there's a catch.

The library is forgiving up to $25 of any patron's library fines when they refer a friend or family member to sigh up for GRPL library card.

To qualify for the fine forgiveness, the person being referred must live within the Grand Rapids city limits and not already have an active card. If a cardholder brings in more than one friend, $25 will be forgiven for each friend.

4. Hundreds of people are expected to come out for the annual Walk for Autism in Coopersville on Saturday.

It's totally free, and is meant to raise awareness and provide support to families. It starts at 11 a.m. at Coopersville High School on East Street.

Last year, 600 people took part, and the Autism Family Network says they're expecting even more people this year.

5. Cedar Point's Halloweekends start on Friday!

This year will include a funeral for the Mean Streak roller coaster which is closing down. There will also be the Great Pumpkin Parade and new Skeleton Key Rooms with "intense haunted experiences that are not for the faint of heart."
