CALEDONIA TWP., Mich. – A Byron Township man is dead after a construction accident Thursday morning.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office says that Michael Dieleman, 37, was electrocuted at a work site in the 6200 block of Egan Avenue SE.  Dieleman was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Deputies say that Dieleman was working for his father’s company, T.F.C. Construction, installing a driveway.  Investigators say that Dieleman was using “a large concrete float with a long extension when the pole made contact with a power line and metal ground stake” where he was working.  When the pole made contact with both objects, Dieleman was electrocuted.

The Sheriff’s Department is working with Consumers Energy and MIOSHA investigating the incident.
