WEST MICHIGAN — The air has a tropical feel to it this morning with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s as of this writing, and dew points not far behind. Many of us have received over a quarter inch of rain this morning, and it’s still coming down.

A warm front has lifted through the area, so we’re in an unseasonably warm and humid airmass. An upper level disturbance moving right over the FOX 17 viewing area this morning has been wringing out this moisture in the form of a steady rain with a few embedded thunderstorms. Here is a look at the radar as of this early morning writing:

More rain is possible this morning, especially south of I-96 where some areas could see up to an inch of total rainfall. Here’s a look at how much rain Future Track HD is expecting to fall across the area:

Later this afternoon, a cold front will push through the area. Behind this front, expect the rain to come to taper off. Our forecast model still suggests a few showers will be possible early this afternoon, but overall it looks a lot drier:

Sunday looks rain-free with a comfortable high in the middle 70s.

In the extended forecast, look for a warm pattern overall. Our average high is in the lower 70s at this time of year, but we’ll be 5 to 10 degrees warmer than that most afternoons.
